Races

Kinda silly, but I thought I'd add a "race report" page.  What makes it the most silly is that I haven't run a race since 2020 . . . and no one blogs anymore . . . and my blog has never been popular. But here I am.  I am simply adding the races, and you can click on the link if you desire to find the "race report."  Most of the posts are not always about the race, and really aren't the typical race report, but it's a fun trip down memory lane.

2012
Tulip Run 5 mile my first "race" that I walked with my sister
Have a Heart 5K My first 5K and the first race I ran
Fowl Fun Run My first 10K, weirdly I didn't run another 10k until 2015

2013
Runs For Cookies 5K a virtual run
Bloomsday 12K walk with my sister
Run for your Mum 5k A PR that still stands
Berry Days Half Marathon I have thoughts on this, it's sad to me that they no longer do this half.  Also, when I think about this half, I remember the girl (a stranger that I wanted to keep up with and we ended up talking) that I ran with and I'm pretty sure she ducked into a portapotty to get away from me, so now even over 10 years later, I feel guilty.
Skagit Flats Half Marathon Another PR that still stands

2014 - This year and 2015 were my "fast years" 😆
Nookachamps 5K my first age placement, 3rd for my age group
Tulip Run 5 miles 1st place for my age
Bloomsday 12K the first year I ran it.

2015
Tulip Run 5 mile
Have a Heart 10K
Insane Inflatable Not really a race, but it was fun.  I still have the shirts we made, and it's one of my favorite tshirts.
Everday Superheroes  Part of a series I did that year
Tri-Cities Marathon PR I've done 2 marathons, but when I talk about "my marathon" this is the one I mean.  I don't know why I think back at this one with such fondness, but I do.  Damian ran the last 3 miles with me, which I loved. My family was super supportive, and it was just a good experience. Oh, and I got 3rd place in my age group and a cool glass.
Fowl Fun Run 5k  3rd place in my age group -  also the second race in the series I did
Skagit Jingle Bell 5k  2nd overall female - the last in the race series.  Also, sorry that this link goes to the same as the Fowl fun run one.  Apparently I didn't post the Fowl Fun Run race until December after I did this one.

2016 - I decided to do one race a month this year
Nookachamps 5K
DASSH 5K
Big Climb I did this with coworkers in Seattle, it was climbing the Columbia Center and was a cool experience.
Tulip Run 5 mile I got a PR and 1st in my age group
Bloomsday 12K PR
Tesoro March Point 5K Probably the stupidest race I did because I sprained my ankle pretty badly a few days before, but was in denial . . . oh, and I was sick, but I had a goal to run a race once a month 🙄
Old Settler's 5K this was actually canceled, but I went for a run with a friend to try to keep my goal.
Rescue Run 5K Apparently I didn't blog about this race at all, I don't even remember where this run was.  Also, I gave up on the race once a month because I wasn't letting my poor ankle heal.

2017 - I found a cool Washington Half and Full Marathon Series, which means I had to run 4, 7, or 10 half or full marathons to get a cool medal.
Nookachamps half Marathon - I didn't realize I ran this particular run so often, not the same distance, but the same race-ish.
Tulip Run 5 miles
Bloomsday walk
Insane Inflatable
San Juan Half Marathon - a ridiculously hilly run, I still placed 2nd in my age group
Leavenworth Oktober Fest Half Marathon - This one had the coolest medal I've gotten, a bottle opener
Tri-Cities Marathon this one deserves two links, click on it and find out why
Fowl Fun Run 10K  PR
Last Chance Half marathon - the end of the Series, and a picture of the medal for doing the series.

2018
My mom died on March 5th, this completely changed me. The end of 2018 I started a runstreak.
Dugan's Fun Run - this was a spur of the moment race for me.  We went to Ocean shores to spend time with my dad after my mom's death and there was a race packet pickup at the place we ate lunch, so I signed up for it. This was a hard weekend . . . Also, I got 2nd overall female and 2nd in my age group. (1st overall female was the in the same age group as me.)
Tulip Run 5 miles 2nd in my age group
Bloomsday walking PR - this post doesn't talk about the race much, but here it is.
Bridge of the Gods Half marathon  - this race fell on my mom's birthday.  It also happens to be the last half marathon I've done.

2019
Ragnar

2020 - the world fell apart and suddenly all races were vitual
Tulip Virtual Scholarship Run 10K - they changed the run this year to a 10K, which I didn't (and don't like) and haven't done it since.
Virtual Bloomsday - this post is actually a recap of 2020, but I didn't write about Bloomsday after it happened.
Running on Wine and Christmas Cheer 5K - no posts of this either, so you get the same recap as I did for Bloomsday

2021

And just like that, I quit racing. I truly believe my mom's death affected my running in many ways, and suddenly racing wasn't important to me anymore.  I did start a runstreak that lasted 4 years.  I ended that a year after my dad died, so his death affected my running as well.

If I ever decided to do a race, I'll try to do a proper race report and post it here as well.
